Diesel Oil

In the primary distillation phase of crude oil, the traditional product is diesel oil. Its quality is determined by the characteristics of the crude oil itself and the modalities with which it’s been distilled. In diesel oil a large quantity of hydrocarbons are present, such as aromatic and naphta paraffins, and their proportions vary from diesel oil to diesel oil.
Paraffin hydrocarbons are more stable so they have the best ignition and combustion qualities. Currently diesel oil is used as a combustible in diesel motors and used as fuel in central heating or as a raw material in the chemical industry.
Diesel oil has various characterizing aspects like the curve of distillation, viscosity and density; it’s sulphur content being the most critical element and its implications with the enviroment.

Diesel Oil Used in Agriculture
The agricultural diesel oil is used as fuel and as combustible in agriculture.
This product is taxed differently than other petrolium products; for this reason it is coloured green before it’s put on the market.
To purchase and use agricultural diesel oil one needs to have all the necessary requisites described in the following laws: D.Leg.504/95, 173/98; LAW 662/96; D.M. 6/8/63, 12/3/92, 24/2/00

Diesel Oil for Autotraction
Diesel oil for autotraction is used as fuel for diesel motors.
It’s light in colour with slight amber hues; over a period of time its sulphur content has been greatly reduced to it’s current 0.005% percentage.
It is used in modern motors and is considered the most enviromently friendly fuel.

Gasolio for Heating
Diesel Oil for heating purposes is used as fuel in heating systems. Its main characteristic is its elevated heating power. It is distinguishable from other oils for its red colour.
